Balboa Park Trails (Trail #1)
- This slot canyon hike is found deep in the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in Canyon Sin Nombre. If you have a suitable 4WD vehicle you can drive about 2.2 miles to the start of the slot otherwise you can hike down the sandy unpaved road. The entrance will be on your left and marked by metal posts.
- The slot canyon in Anza Borrego is one of those hikes that you never realized you had right in California. The slot is a beautiful natural formation nestled in the heart of Anza Borrego State Park, about an hour and a half east of San Diego. The park has no fees to enter and hundreds of miles to explore and off-road through.

The hiking options are endless at this urban national park with more than 40 miles of trails near Kumeyaay Lake and Lake Murray. Try starting with the Oak Canyon Trail that follows an oak-lined ravine that winds north from the Old Mission Dam and isn't too strenuous on the body, but be sure to take plenty of water with you on warmer days.
Slot Canyon in Anza Borrego State Park

This hike, although a bit of a drive, is still within San Diego County and is the perfect adventure to add to your vacation! It's an easy stroll through narrow siltstone canyon.
